Rand Simberg, Dr. Margaret Jordan, Bill Simon, “Evoloterra,” Friday, 7-20-12
Guests: Rand Simberg, Dr. Margaret Jordan, Bill Simon. Topics: Celebration of the 43rd Anniversary of our moon landing per Evoloterra. You are invited to comment, ask questions, and discuss the Space Show program/guest(s) on the Space Show blog, http://thespaceshow.wordpress.com. Comments, questions, and any discussion must be relevant and applicable to Space Show programming. Transcripts of Space Show programs are not permitted without prior written consent from The Space Show (even if for personal use) & are a violation of the Space Show copyright. We welcomed back Rand Simberg & Bill Simon and for the first time, Dr. Margaret Jordan, to present Evoloterra to The Space Show audience to commemorate and honor the 43rd anniversary our Apollo 11 landing on the Moon. You can download or print the Evoloterra Ceremony at www.evoloterra.com. During our first segment, the three authors of Evoloterra provided us with an overview and history of how Evoloterra came to be written, then the four of us read the ceremony on air. Rand took the part of the ceremony leader, then Bill, Margaret & I alternated with one another reading the paragraphs following the leader questions. This segment, our reading of Evoloterra, told the story of how humans evolved and were able to develop the knowledge, skills, and technology to go to the Moon in 1969. On the completion of the ceremony we then went to our break.
In our second segment, we started off with “dinner conversation” about Evoloterra, our Moon landing, what it meant then, and what it means for today. We fielded listener calls & emails about the ceremony. We talked about educational outreach, our public schools, and doing the ceremony tonight (July 20), this weekend, or in the near future to remember and understand this important accomplishment with family and friends. Another of our topics was focused on making sure that those 500 years in the future will know what we did 43 years ago today and just how we did it. This remembrance gets more & more complicated as our Moon landing fades into our past history. One listener asked if Evoloterra had impact on policy makers. Rand said he did not think so. Rand told us about a website, www.wherewereyou.com. Here, you can upload your story as to where you were when we landed on the Moon, what you were doing, & what it meant to you. As our program was ending, we finished the ceremony by reading the Evoloterra Epilogue. Our guests then closed out the program with their concluding thoughts and comments.
Please post your comments/questions on The Space Show blog. You can email the three co-authors through me at DrSpace@thespaceshow.com.

Dr. Peter Shaver, Monday, 1-23-12
Guest: Dr. Peter Shaver. Topics: Dr. Shaver’s boo, “Cosmic Heritage,” the universe, cosmology, consciousness, cognition. We welcomed Dr. Peter Shaver to the show to discuss his new book, “Cosmic Heritage: Evolution from the Big Bang to Conscious Life. Dr. Shaver started our discussion by telling us what motivated him to write this book as well as the search for answers to the Big Three questions: (1) What are the origins of life; (2) What is the nature of life; (2) To understand consciousness. We talked about the big bang, the microwave background and the early phases of the universe. We also discussed cosmology & the inter-disciplinary nature of his book, including the fields of psychology, consciousness, and biology. We talked about the age of the universe at 13.7 billion years. Dr. Shaver then described the timeline by referencing the Sagan Calendar. I asked him about a section of his book, “Are There Questions That Science Can Never Address?” starting on page 238. Dr. Shaver talked about taboos and the limits of science. Recurring events or experiences in the natural world can be subject to the scientific method. A once-only event may not be due the inability to repeat the experiment. Also, if something is outside the natural world, the paranormal for example, science would not likely be able to address that issue or question. Later, Dr. Shaver was asked what came before the Big Bang. Here, he introduced us to multiverse theories. He mentioned the work being done with the Large Hadron Collider and the search for the search for the Higgs-boson particle. Another project he mentioned was the European Space Agency Planck Satellite designed to observe the anisotropies of the cosmic microwave background. A listener asked about the political nature of science, especially science funding. Dr. Shaver had much to say in response to this question, including the use of peer review. Other listener questions asked him about big science projects and their value compared to cost such as the James Webb Space Telescope. Cognition and consciousness were discussed in the context of his book which addresses the field of neuroscience. Terry called to ask we will see in telescopes as we get closer to the big bang. Will we still see stars, planets, or just matter in chaos? Dr. Shaver then guided us through gazing through the dark sky at night and slowly removing from our view the sources of light until we reach the edge of the universe which he referred to as the Near Side of Dark Ages. Another listener asked if we could actually see the big bang and he talked about the microwave background and fog that we cannot see through. This brought up the Hubble Deep Field, then Andrew asked if we could use a telescope to see the first light from Earth when it was formed. As our discussion was drawing to a close, we talked about the rate of advancements in science, finding planets in the habitable zone and the future for those wanting to study science or have a science related profession. Dr. John Brandenburg, Tuesday, 11-22-11
Guest: Dr. John Brandenburg. Topics: We discussed his new book, the GEM Unification Theory, gravity, propulsion and more. The Space Show/OGLF is now engaged in its annual fundraising drive. Please check out our appeal at http://thespaceshow.wordpress.com/2011/11/21/space-show-2011-fundraising-campaign. We welcomed Dr. John Brandenburg back to the program to discuss his new book, “Beyond Einstein’s Unified Field: Gravity & Electro-Magnetism Redefined.” I urge you read his paper published in the Journal of Cosmology. “A Derivation of the Newton Gravitation Constant and the Proton Mass From The GEM Unification Theory of Baryo-Genesis” at http://journalofcosmology.com/JoC17pdfs/brandenburg2.pdf. Dr. Brandenburg & I have been friends for a very long time & our discussions are informal, sometimes meandering, & always great fun. At times this discussion was heavy into the physic so do bear with us. In segment one, Dr. Brandenburg said that the GEM theory was a “theory of most stuff.” He referred to the Gravitational Constant & the Planck Scale as well as the Middle Scale throughout the discussion. He provided the groundwork relating to Einstein and quantum mechanics, hidden dimensions, string theory, the 5th dimension, electro-magnetism & gravity theory. He also referenced many times over the Kaluza-Klein theory & work by Sakharov. An early question asked our guest to explain why there were different intensities of gravity on different planets. Dr. Brandenburg talked about Big G, all matter being electromagnetic at the molecular level & ratios (with Earth) used to predict the surface gravity of a planet made of rock. In our second segment, Dr. Brandenburg went into more detail about his GEM theory which is also referred to as the Grandis et Medianis theory. The Big Bang was discussed as well as what happened in the second before the Big Bang. He also talked about string theory & its relationship to the GEM Theory. A listener asked about the recent faster than light neutrino experiments. The experiment named OPERA was very simple & basic & most interesting. In discussing this experiment & its results, he introduced us to tachyons which prompted a call from listener John in Atlanta & they spent some time discussing the physics of the GEM theory & what it might mean for propulsion. To simplify this review, we now move forward to the need for portable fusion power & using gravity modification for space transportation. While optimistic for gravity modification, Dr. Brandenburg was blunt in saying that without portable nuclear power, even with gravity modification, we would not leave the atmosphere & we would continue using big chemical rockets. Don’t miss this discussion. We talked more about string theory & dimensions & then a listener asked about parallel dimensions. Dr. Brandenburg had much to say on this topic as well. Near the end of our two hour discussion, I asked our guest about his next book & this opened up a different discussion line. Dr. Brandenburg is going to write about science, religion, the Middle East, Israel, ancient history, Greece, the Roman Empire & metaphysics before physics! Look for him to be a guest on the show about this one. We ended our show talking about thorium, thorium reactors, why thorium cannot be used for weapons, & natural nuclear events in Africa & on Mars which he discussed in detail when he was last on The Space Show. Post your comments/questions on The Space Show blog URL above. John can be emailed using firstname.lastname@example.org.
