We welcomed Anatoly Zak of (www.russianspaceweb.com) to the program to discuss the Russian action underway in the Crimea and the Ukraine. Since the Ukraine has many supporting space industries, companies, and space products, we talked with Anatoly about the stability of our ISS partnership & interconnected space partnerships. The U.S. has a strong dependency on Russia and in particular the Ukraine for Soyuz components, Orbital’s Antares first stage, and much more. Anatoly thought things would remain stable providing thee was no escalation. I specifically asked if he thought economic sanctions would represent escalation and he said yes. We also talked about the new space center Russia is building, the consolidation of their space industry, and the Russian people’s interest level in space activities.
